What is the Resident Garden? It is a student-run, student-founded garden program that provides hands on gardening experience to residents. Dining Services created it in 2011 in partnership with the Campus Center for the Environment (CCE). Visit our facebook page for pictures and info, search "UC Davis Resident Garden". The garden is maintained by Nancy the coordinator, and four lovely interns

Our succulents plot, Paul's project

In Spring 2016, students applied to adopt a 6 sq ft garden plot at the Segundo Resident Garden. We empowered students to guide their own garden education experience by giving them access to seeds, transplants, tools, fertilizer, and mentorship.

**We are currently not accepting applications for Adopt-a-Plot as we are full. Please check back in Spring.

We host workshops and events each quarter. Below are some of our past events:

Garden Crawl (June 2016 & November 2016)

Touring edible gardens on campus by bike. Thank you to the BOG, the Eco Garden, the Student Farm, and the SHWC garden

Medicinal Herb Workshop (February 2016)

Nancy, the Resident Garden coordinator, along with Resident Garden interns, provided lively discussions about the traditional medicinal properties of herbs, several of which are currently growing in the Resident Garden!

Winter Salad Extravaganza (January 2016)

Nancy, the Resident Garden coordinator, and Laura and Stacy, the Aggie Grown coordinators, led a group of residents in a workshop about how to create a delicious salad. We learned about Student Farm produce, harvesting what is growing in the Resident Garden, and how to put it all together.

Herbal Tea Workshop (November 2015)

Nancy, the Resident Garden coordinator, shared how to make your own tea from herbs that are growing in the Resident Garden as well as others. Together the group munched on snacks, drank delicious tea, and picked herbs from the Resident Garden to make their own tea at home.
